Austin Ware | Ireland | February 2023

Austin and his wife covered a lot of ground on their honeymoon in Ireland. Landing in Dublin and picking up their rental car they drove to Killarney where they stayed for their first two nights.  A special night Ashford Castle was followed by a couple of night in Westport before continuing on to Donegal. A night on the Causeway Coast followed before they returned to Dublin and ended their honeymoon with a couple of nights in the capital.

How would you rate your trip?

5 stars

How were your accommodations?

Great. All of our accommodations were fantastic in their own way. The hosts at Fairview Inn made us feel very welcome in Ireland on our first night in the country. We were glad they recommended a stop at Inch Beach. We also greatly appreciated the chocolate and champagne Ann provided us during our stay there. Ashford Castle was extremely special. It was fun exploring the castle grounds, eatin

g delicious food, and meeting the castle dogs. We very much enjoyed the breakfasts at Clew Bay Hotel and Gateway Lodge, especially after our long day trips from Westport and Donegal. Our favorite of all the accommodations was The Bushmills Inn Hotel. Dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant was delicious. The room was very comfortable and the hotel staff were helpful and welcoming. Our final accommodation at Buswells was great too, although it was our least favorite. No offence to the hotel, we just enjoyed the less busy locations more.

Did everything go smoothly with your transportation?

Yes. Our flights on Aer Lingus were fun. It was a great way to kick off our Irish trip. Our car performed great too. And our private transfer driver from Buswells to Dublin Airport was very friendly.

What tours, attractions, or activities did you particularly enjoy?

We really enjoyed our visits to the coastal sight seeing locations along the West side of Ireland. These included Dingle Peninsula, Cliffs of Moher, Achill Island, and Sliabh Liag. We were also amazed by the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland, and also the ancient tombs at the Bru na Boinne visitor center. We were fascinated by the artifacts in Dublin at the National Archaeology Museum and also at Trinity College.

What was your favorite part of the trip?

We each had our own favorite portions of the trip: Kaylin’s favorite part was the day trip to Achill Island. We were lucky to have beautiful sunny weather that day which made all of our stops along the way so much better. These included Minaun Heights, Keel Beach, Keem Beach, Dugort Beach, and Golden Strand. Austin’s favorite part was the day trip to Sliabh Liag. The weather that day was much colder, so much so that it snowed throughout the night and some of the morning. As a result, we enjoyed many great snowy sights at all of our stops. These included Fintra Beach, Sliabh Liag itself, Silver Strand at Malin Beg, Glengesh Viewing Point, and finally the Ardara Distillery where we bought some delicious An Dulaman gin.

Would you travel with us again?

Yes. We really have no grievances for the trip that was planned for us. We greatly appreciate everything you did for us to make it special! One change that we will make on our next trip to Ireland is to consider flying into one of the smaller airports instead of Dublin, just because we enjoyed the quieter parts of the island the most.

Any other questions or comments?

Thank you so much for making our honeymoon such a wonderful and memorable trip! We’ll be sure to recommend Ann and Crystal Travels for their future trips to Ireland.
