Amanda, I'm sorry it took a while to get back to you, but I'm still recovering. Jane and I had a great time on the trip! Dave (the chauffeur driver/guide) was knowledgeable, funny, and helpful, and the accommodations were all excellent. You'll remember we were trying to find our ancestors' homes (from 150 years ago), and Dave had no qualms about turning down any little lane or dirt road I wanted to try, in spite of driving that Mercedes. He also helped us at every stop. In Oughterard, we went to lunch with some cousins of Jane's, and he went ahead to the B&B with our bags.
Sligo was the place where we had the least information, and while we had lunch Dave went wandering around town and located a real estate agent who was a great help with maps and locations, and his advice eventually lead us to the (now falling down) home of Jane's grandfather. We would never have found that house without the help of the real estate agent, so that was extremely helpful to me.
The trip was a HUGE success. We were trying to find the homes of seven grandparents, and we found six of them. But even the one we didn't find lead us to some more information, which will help us to eventually find that house. We also met cousins in three of the seven locales (and had tea with some people who thought we were relatives, although as we talked it turned out they were from a different branch of the family). That didn't matter to them; they were still very friendly and helpful.
Thank you again for all your help. The trip was a success, the accommodations were wonderful, and Dave was entertaining and helpful. We'd definitely use your services again, and gladly recommend you to others. I hope we have the opportunity to work together again.
