Stay in your very own castle tower

Be Unique. Be the King or Queen.

Sometimes you go from a whirlwind vacation to back behind a desk before you even realize you were away. Perhaps there was no rest and relaxation as you were too busy driving from hotel to hotel or very little chance to sleep because you needed to check out before ten and get on the road so that you could see all of the attractions.

With this tour, you stay at just three places in nine nights - and one of them is your very own castle! Your first stay is in the town of Westport, a walking friendly towns, meaning if you decide to get up late and not get in the car on a particular day, there will still be lots for you to do. There is less packing and unpacking to be done and you won't have to live out of your suitcase.

If you would prefer to venture south instead of north, you can substitute Annes Grove Miniature Castle for your three nights in Helen's Tower.

      10 Day Rent-A-Castle Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Westport via Cliffs of Moher

Arrive at Shannon Airport and make the drive to Westport taking in the Cliffs of Moher and Galway City to break it up. Visit the Cliffs of Moher and drive through the spectacular scenery of the Burren onto Galway city. We recommend to avoid Galway on this day in order to make it to your hotel in good time. You will get to spend some time in Galway tomorrow.

      Overnight in Knockranny House Hotel

Day 2: Connemara Tour & Galway City

Today set out south along the west coast to Connermara and onto Clifden. Take some stunning pictures of Kylemore Abbey and find somewhere nice in the Connemara region to get some lunch. Make your way to Galway city where you should spend a few hours. It is a beautiful little city that many consider the most charming in Europe. Be sure to make the short trip to Salthill and take a stroll along the promenade. Make your way back to your hotel in your own time.

Day 3: Yeats' Country & Mayo Scenery

Because you are a little over mid way through your tour and you have done a lot of driving, you may wish to take it easy today. If you do not wish to visit Achill Island and see the beautiful scenery Mayo has to offer, you can explore Westport where there is lots to do. You may also decide to climb Croagh Patrick which is a short drive away. It is named after Saint Patrick who reputedly fasted on top of the mountain for 40 days in the fifth century and is now associated with Christian pilgrimage.

Day 4: Drive to Helen's Tower

This morning, you will leave Westport and make your journey towards Belfast. Be prepared for a long drive as you are going all the way from the West of Ireland to the north east of Ireland. To break up the trip you can stop for lunch in Carrick-on-Shannon, the county town of County Leitrim. As the name suggests, Carrick-on-Shannon sits right on the River Shannon. You could also opt for Enniskillen, a lovely town wedged between the Upper and Lower parts of Lough Erne. When you arrive in tower, relax for the night.

Day 5: Causeway Coast & Derry

Today you will take a day trip from Belfast further north. The highlight will be the Giant's Causeway, 40,000 interlocking basalt columns which are the result of an ancient volcanic eruption, but there are plenty more wonderful attractions in the area. Dunluce Castle is a now-ruined medieval castle teetering on the edge of a cliff, the Bushmills Distillery still welcomes visitors, take the exhilarating rope bridge to Carrick-a-Rede island and enjoy a truly clifftop experience, and the Dark Hedges is a beautiful avenue of beech trees planted in the eighteenth century that have a haunting feel. Return to your tower in the evening.

      Day 6: Explore Belfast

Today you will be spending the day getting better acquainted with the city of Belfast. The star attraction here is Titanic Belfast. Titanic Belfast extends over nine galleries, with multiple dimensions to the exhibition, drawing together special effects, dark rides, full-scale reconstructions and innovative interactive features to explore the Titanic story in a fresh and insightful way. The Titanic was built at the H&W shipyard adjacent and so lends a lot to the city's history. Other highlights include Belfast City Hall and Belfast Castle but mostly take in a city that has healed from the Troubles and is undergoing a considerable expansion and regeneration in recent years.

      Day 7: Drive to Dublin

Today you can drive from Helen's Tower to Dublin. It is best to take the scenic route to Dublin, a journey that should only take 90 minutes when going directly. You can stop off in Downpatrick to see Castle Ward and St Patrick Centre, take a scenic drive around Carlingford Lough and stop at Newgrange to see the world famous passage tomb that is older that the pyramids in Giza. Return your car today as you won't need it in Dublin.

      Overnight in O'Callaghan Davenport Hotel

      Day 8: Explore Dublin

Use the open top bus tour as your mode of transport. It allows you to hop on and off at whatever attractions you choose along the route and should keep you entertained for a large part of the day.

Be sure to visit the Guinness Storehouse and the Jameson Distillery among the other attractions along the route.

      Overnight in O'Callaghan Davenport Hotel

      Day 9: Dublin Again

Wake up refreshed and spend another day exploring all that Dublin has to offer. Aside from all the places mentioned yesterday, you could take a leisurely stroll in St. Stephen's Green or the Phoenix Park, which is home to both the President of Ireland and a herd of wild fallow deer. See the GPO, the building still marked from the 1916 Rising, the Famine Memorial which stands as a reminder of one of Ireland's saddest chapters, and visit Croke Park to see this amazing stadium built for Ireland's renowned amateur sports. Spend some time in the GAA museum and take the stadium tour while you are there.
