Harris Family | England & Scotland | May, 2022

Carly booked a trip with us at Crystal Travel for her family to travel to both England and Scotland in May 2022. They had a fantastic time finally visiting the cities they had long anticipated seeing. However, it was the properties they visited outside the major cities that stole their hearts. Traveling with three young children, Carly notes the accommodations that made the process easy and memorable for her and her kids.

How would you rate your trip? 5/5
Who was your travel expert? Josie
How were your accommodations? Great
What did you love? The hotels in London and Edinburgh were in great locations. Accommodations were standard for big city hotels. Included breakfast made it easy.

The gems were the properties outside of the major cities. First Corriegour Lodge. We were running late for dinner but when we walked through the door the owner didn’t make us feel that way. She got us settled and had us order before we refreshed from our travel day. Dinner was delicious and we all decided we should have had dinner there both days. Our kids had a great room with 3 beds. Perfect for them. Breakfast was great both days. The hosts were so friendly and it was like staying with family.

Next we stayed at Poplar house in Pitlochry. The property in gorgeous and updated. Natalie was a lovely hostess and showed us on the map where to explore and which restaurants to try. Everything she suggested was spot on for our time there. Kids again had the perfect room which would work well for a family of 4 too. Breakfast was amazing. Homemade everything including lemon curd for my toast and whisky in the porridge.

I would recommend any of the four places.

Did everything go smoothly with your transportation? Yes
What did you love? So many things! Windsor Castle – when we walked in to St. George’s chapel the choir was rehearsing and it was such a magnificent moment. It was the highlight of our Stonehenge, Bath and Windsor day.

The driver that picked us up from Heathrow (Brian) was hard to find initially ( we were late arriving) but once we found him and got in the car got us safely to the hotel and was full of helpful information.

Daryl in Edinburgh was very kind to pick us up in Edinburgh. We were late arriving and despite a chaotic day in Edinburgh he was able to find us and get us to our rental car.

Loved Pitlochry. We would visit again!

What tours, attractions, or activities did you particularly enjoy? The hop on hop off tours in both London and Edinburgh were perfect. London was a bit crazy with road closures due to Jubilee preparations but day one it was a great activity with jet lag. In Edinburgh the bus company helped us with tickets to Edinburgh castle even though they were sold out online. Good thing because we LOVED visiting there.
What was your favorite part of the trip? It’s hard to pick one, but Edinburgh was such an unexpected city and we loved exploring the streets and staircase ways. We also missed the Jacobite steam train (bummer) but had a great day at the museum in Ft William , visiting Neptunes Staircase and walking a bit up Ben Nevis. Missing the train ended up giving us a great day 🙂
Would you travel with us again? Yes
How can we improve for next time? Everything went so well.., from first contact to out pre departure discussion. We were very pleased.

Carly also wanted to say ” Thank you so much for everything Josie! You really helped make this long awaited family trip and amazing adventure for us. We can’t wait to plan another!”
