Begin your adventure in Finland with reindeer sleigh rides and Arctic spa rituals in Rovaniemi, then travel to Helsinki to relax at a luxurious spa, explore the beautiful city of Tallinn, and conclude your trip with a sightseeing tour of Helsinki. An ideal option for both couples and families.
Day 1 | Arrive in Rovaniemi
After reaching Rovaniemi, check into Santa’s Hotel Santa Claus. If you are tired after your long journey, relax for a while before your first Nordic adventure tonight!
After getting some rest, head out and meet your guide who will take you to the local reindeer farm. Sitting comfortably in a reindeer sleigh, travel through snowy forests, and who knows if the Northern Lights paint the skies in shades of green above you. A hot cup of coffee with a bun is served around a campfire.
Day 2 | Explore Rovaniemi
After breakfast this morning, set out and explore Rovaniemi by foot. Enjoy the many gift shops that are jotted around the city. Why don’t you play a round at the winter golf course, enjoy one of many skating rinks or swimming halls during the morning before taking part in your second Nordic adventure after lunch.
Enjoy a once in a lifetime experience, a noon safari to Arctic Wilderness by Electric Snowmobile. The electric snowmobile is easy to drive and will allow you to enjoy the nature in total peace. On your afternoon safari, the journey begins in daylight with crossing the frozen lake Lehtojärvi and continues through bogs and forests. You will have a chance to take nice photos during the stop on scenic view points before heading back as the daylight fades and stars light up in the sky.
Day 3 | Arrive at Apukka Resort
From Rovaniemi, take a shuttle bus to the Apukka Resort. The Apukka Resort stands in the embrace of two wilderness lakes amid the most stunning Arctic nature. After checking in, you will have a Lakeside Sauna & Arctic Bath experience. In this private “Arctic Spa” the soft heat brought by the ”löyly” welcomes you on an authentic journey to the Lappish sauna culture. To make the experience even more memorable, try bathing in the frozen lake Olkkajärvi.
Swimming in Ice cold water has many benefits such as lowering cholesterol, boosting the immune system & easing pain and inflammation in your muscles. Hop between the freezing ice cold water and the hot steaming humidity of the lakeside Sauna and experience what keeps the Finnish people so healthy.
Day 4 | Aurora Hunt
Have a lie in today and rest after your first few days of action-packed adventure. Tonight, you will be chasing the Northern lights by car. Meet with your knowledgeable guide and get ready to hit the roads of the far North to find the very best locations to spot the Northern Lights. As you travel across the arctic landscapes in the search of the Auroras, you also have a great chance to learn about Finland and the life up here from your knowledgeable guide. During the tour, your guide will give you a short presentation about the science and myths behind the Northern Lights. Your guide will also help you with camera settings to best capture the Northern Lights.
Day 5 | Arrive in Helsinki
After arriving in Helsinki, make your way to your accommodation, the Hotel St. George. Today is all about relaxation. After checking in, make your way to the St. George Care spa area. Here, you can indulge in the hotel’s pool, saunas, relaxation spaces as well as different treatments & massages.
After a relaxing spa day, hit the city for the night and enjoy some good food and drink.
Day 6 | Tallinn
Today, take a day trip to the charming city of Tallinn in Estonia. You can reach Tallinn by taking a 2-hour ferry ride from Helsinki.
Once you arrive in Tallinn, visit the beautifully preserved town walls which wrap around the old town. The Walls of Tallinn were built in 1265 and were originally five metres tall. Over the centuries, the city strengthened the walls, making them taller and thicker. They’ve since become a World Heritage Site.
After exploring the walls, walk along St. Catherine’s Passage. The street is narrow and is lined with shops and small cafes on each side. Everything is housed in historic buildings, taking you back in time. The combination of the old buildings and tiny shops help you experience Tallinn as it was hundreds of years ago.
Tallinn is home to many beautiful cathedrals that are jotted around the city. As you roam around, make sure to stop at any that pique your interest.
To finish off your day, a visit to the KGB Museum is a great idea! Located inside Hotel Viru, here once lay the secret offices of the KGB. Learn what Tallinn was like under USSR rule. You can learn what information the KGB kept on citizens and how it would spy on foreign guests of this hotel.
Return to the port and board your Ferry back to Helsinki in the evening.
Day 7 | Explore Helsinki
Today, use the Hop on Hop Off bus to venture around the Capital City. Discover the city of Helsinki and its attractions with this convenient City Sightseeing Tour. Explore at your own pace, getting off at any attractions that interest you.
Visit top attractions like Rock Church, the Sibelius monument and Swedish theatre. Enjoy panoramic views of Helsinki from aboard the double decker, open top buses. Buses run frequently so you won’t feel rushed while exploring the city.
Day 8 | Return Home
Say goodbye to Finland as you fly home today. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to reach the airport before your flight home.
